Men’s elite wheelchair athlete Richie Powell has gone on to become a serial winner in Run 4 Wales events, consolidating himself as a true R4W10 Hall of Famer. We spoke to Richie, asking for some of his best memories over ten years of events in Wales.
“I have so many memories of all the (R4W) events I have competed in!”
What are your best memories from the ten years? Coming over line in our capital city at the iconic Cardiff Half, and finishing on the seafront at the all new Healthspan Porthcawl 10K, the same spot I became British Half Marathon Champion in 1991!
Do you have any stories to tell over those ten years? I have been lucky to represent my country at Paralympic, World Championship, World Games and Commonwealth Games to name a few! I still get the same buzz strapping on my race chair and hitting the road at the Run 4 Wales events, there’s nothing like it.
