Reports To: Head of Group Finance and Operations (Run 4 Wales Group) and People & Culture Director (London Marathon Events)
Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: Band 2 (£27,850- £33,205) or Band 3 (£33,205-£45,613), depending on experience
Location: Run 4 Wales Office, Leckwith, Cardiff
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The scope of this position is two-fold, supporting the people and culture requirements for the employees within Run4Wales and Always Aim High Events (based in Wales) for approximately three days per week, and also supporting Caledonian Events and Maverick Race approximately two days per week. All companies are fully or partially owned by London Marathon Events.
In this hybrid position, the role of the People and Culture Manager is to work across the companies on all areas of HR including, employee engagement, learning and development, recruitment, and wellbeing.
The position is responsible for cultivating positive workplace cultures, enhancing employee engagement, delivering a consistent approach to employee policies and practices (where possible), and being able to balance the needs of the teams with the needs of the values, balancing HR planning with hands-on delivery.
All members of the team are expected to take an active role at our events, so weekend working will be required.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role combines business partnering, culture development, learning and development, recruitment, and wellbeing/EDI into one integrated People & Culture function. It involves shaping HR strategy, supporting leaders, and ensuring consistent processes across organisations while fostering an inclusive, values‑driven culture. The position leads staff engagement, communication, training, and talent development, manages fair and inclusive hiring, and drives wellbeing and diversity initiatives to create supportive, connected, high‑performing teams.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of contemporary HR practices, engagement drivers, and wellbeing strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across diverse teams.
- Proven ability to design and implement engagement initiatives within resource-conscious environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and values-based leadership.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in employee engagement, organisational culture, or people and culture management
- Full use of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Use and maintenance of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
Desirable
- First Aid or relevant event safety qualification
- Passion for physical activity, running and wellbeing
