Contract: Contracted days dependant on event requirements (provided upon enquiry)

Fee/Pay: Negotiable depending on event(s) undertaken and agreed number of days

Run 4 Wales, the events team behind some of Wales’ biggest mass participation events – including the Cardiff Half Marathon – is looking for freelance Production Managers to join their busy team on a freelance basis. The roles will be an integral part of the event operations team and will lead on the production management of an assigned event or series of events dependant on availability and capacity. 

Run 4 Wales currently delivers the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K (26th March), ABP Newport Wales Marathon & 10K (16th April), Dell Technologies Management Challenge (9-11th June), Healthspan Porthcawl 10km (2nd July), ABP Barry Island 10km (6th August), Cardiff Half Marathon (1st October).

Alongside the Project Manager and Head of Event Delivery, you will be responsible for the production management and delivery of a designated event project(s) to ensure consistent Run 4 Wales standards are reached and planning objectives are met in a timely fashion.   

You will be familiar with event project management methodologies and will have experience in utilising these during the creation of project plans. You will work closely with suppliers and other stakeholders in the public and private sectors and you will also liaise closely with R4W staff and other external contractors on behalf of Run 4 Wales. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment for participants and spectators and abide by relevant H&S laws and event standards. 

Candidates: 

You will have a demonstrable track record in event production management and knowledge across outdoor temporary power, audio visual, site design and management. You will be a highly organised, strategic and logical thinker able to grasp the business requirements/goals quickly and deliver to a high standard. 

Applicants should demonstrate an ability to lead projects, and they will be able to influence other members of staff (both internal and external) to help them deliver their responsibilities on time.

● Venue bookings (as required in partnership with the project manager).
● Site planning and on-site site management (scoping, development, consultation).
● Contractor specifications, booking and management.
● Budget setting, management, invoicing and purchase orders.
● Production schedule development and management.
● Site health and safety management.
● Crew booking and management.
● Work with the management team to manage relationships with key partners,
contractors and stakeholders.
● Perform risk management to minimise project risks.
● Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation as required
Skills required:
● Proven project management experience in outdoor events
● An understanding of temporary outdoor event installations
● Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
● Multi-tasker with good prioritisation skills
● Meticulous attention to detail
● Used to working in a busy environment to tight deadlines
● Ability to work on complex projects with many stakeholders and partners
● Knowledge of event health and safety issues and protocols
● Experience in using appropriate technology, methods and equipment
● Strong working knowledge of CAD and Microsoft Office
● UK driving license and willingness to drive company vehicles desirable
